Primalogik has a handful of default rating scales for you to choose from, but you are also free to create custom rating scales you can use in your assessment forms and surveys. You can create or modify your custom rating scales by simply visiting the Rating Scales page. If you want to create a new one then click on Add Rating Scale.
When creating a new rating scale you will be able to:
- define the number of options,
- the labels for each option,
- whether or not you want to include an N/A option
- and the type of display (numbered options or stars)
In the following example, we'll be creating a simple 3-point scale (Needs Improvement, Meets Expectations, Exceeds Expectations).
*Note: Always start your rating scale with least/worst (i.e. Needs Improvement) and work your way up to most/best (i.e. Exceeds Expectations).
If you need more than 3 points, press the 'plus' icon located next to each line to enter a new point on your scale.
Once you've defined the points on your scale, you can decide how this scale is displayed on the form when participants complete their appraisal/survey.
You have two options.
1. Display the rating scale in numerical terms (default):
2. Display the rating scale with stars:
In both cases, the final results page will still display the results in numerical terms. This is simply a matter of preference to show to respondents.
